RVs are not like traditional homes. The furniture that goes inside of these rigs is not made like the furniture for a traditional home. This includes the beds. Some RV beds come with a 45 degree cut at one corner making using traditional sheets a little difficult.
If you are a beginner RVer, you may not know where to look for RV mattresses and sheets. It may be one detail the dealer does not offer you when you go through your RV orientation. However, you can find both cut corner mattresses and sheets on the internet.
To learn some specific places where you can shop for this style of bedding, just continue to read our article. it has the information you need to find the right store to make your purchases. Just be forewarned that this style of bedding can get expensive.
You are not stuck with the cut corner mattress option that comes with your RV. The makers of these rigs, unless they are producing a very luxurious model, do not go the extra mile when it comes to furnishings and bedding.
The mattress you get may not be to your liking or will not meet your back needs. That is okay as nothing is stopping you from replacing the mattress that comes with your RV with one that will meet your sleep needs.
You have a few options to choose from. There is the traditional foam style mattress. What is good about this option is that it is affordable and you can cut the edge to fit your bunk’s design.
The drawback to using foam is that they are made from petroleum products and have a mildew problem. Making sure there is good airflow will help solve that issue. Then you can choose a gel memory foam mattress although these may be a little more expensive than the foam option.
Because they can cost between $400 and $1000 you may want to pick up a mattress protector as well as keep the airflow flowing. A mildew issue will arise here if you are not careful.
An air mattress will work and can be quite comfortable if you pick the right one. Some people suggest the $10000 model but you should be able to find good and less expensive substitutes that will meet your needs. Just remember to change the air pressure in the mattress when you change altitudes.
Then, if you really want to have an RV mattress that fits your RV bed’s design, you may have to go to those mattress companies that specialize in making cut corner RV mattresses.
This is also not going to be that difficult if you look in the right places. Of course, you can always buy those traditional sheets at a very low price and then manipulate the sheets until you get a nice fit. Or if you are good at sewing, you can always alter them to fit your design requirements.
But, the good news is that there are companies out there that sell sheets designed for RV cut corner mattresses. Etsy is one and their ad said they had about 6 options available for you to choose from. However, the cost of those sheets runs around $70.
Amazon is always a great place to look as they can offer you sheets with up to 600 thread count or those lower-cost sheets made for RVs with a little less thread count. Plus, they have cotton to microfiber options which allow you to fit your budget with ease.
Or you can go to the many RV accessory stores that help RV owners find specific items in specific RV shapes. We will not guarantee that their prices will be on the budget-friendly side of the scale.
Stores like Camping World, Cinch Fit, Quick Fit, Tochta.com, Mattress Insider, and more will offer you a great selection of their RV sheets. Then, these same stores should have RV-designed mattress pads and protectors. If you are going to spend a lot of money, it is a wise move to spend a little more and protect those expensive mattresses.
The internet is full of ideas and websites like Pinterest often have some great designs you can try. At least they will have all the step-by-step instructions that cannot be given in this small space.
One good idea is to use the non-elastic top sheet and fold it to meet the design of the mattress. You can secure the fold with safety pins if you want. Or you can use a twin-fitted sheet for those bunks that are twin-sized. They stay in place better than top sheets may.
Then you can use elastic straps that are strategically placed to pull the sheet smooth so you do not have folds underneath you when you sleep. One company has created a zipper style sheet and as long as you do not sell the ones you made you should be able to copy the design to help your nighttime situation.
The best thing to do is look at how your RV bed is designed and brainstorm. Not all RV mattresses have that 45 degrees cut and may be rounded. Get ideas that fit your bed design.
Living or even traveling part-time in an RV can be a challenge. Sleeping comfortably is no exception to that observation. The trick is finding the right mattresses and sheets that fit your RV’s bedroom design.
Thankfully, there are enough outlets online and in traditional businesses that will help you out. You just need to find the one that sells those items that meet your budget.
