This company is trying hard to be your one-stop shopping outlet as they have been branching out into different areas related to vehicles of all sizes. It just makes sense that they would add diesel to their already large vehicle service line up.
If you have a Visa card issued through Costco, your purchase of diesel should qualify you for up to 4% cash back on each purchase.
Which Costco Has Diesel?
Not every Costco gas station sells diesel fuel. That means that the number of gas stations that have their fuel option will be limited. As we said earlier, only those Costcos in 27 states has this service.
Then, since not all Costcos have gas stations, the number that does sell diesel is very limited. Here is a list of states that have Costcos selling this fuel type:

Who Makes Costco Diesel Oil?
If we are just talking about the crankcase oil, then that product is made by Warren Distributors. This oil company is supposed to be one of if not the largest blender of private oil labels.
The oil is made in Omaha, Nebraska, probably at the 2 million square foot manufacturing and distribution facilities. Warren has different facilities located around the country.
Now if we are talking about diesel fuel, which this article is about. There is no word on who the company is behind Costco fuels. One theory was Costco just bought it at the nearest facility at a lower price.
But the word is that Costco gas is equal in quality to the top famous brands like Shell, Texaco, and more. A list of brands behind the Kirkland label did mention gas but it does not mention the brand behind Costco gas.
Rest assured that Costco does not produce its own diesel fuel or gasoline. They do buy it from someone who does but that seems to be a trade secret at this time.
Is Costco Diesel Any Good?
The word is that Costco gasoline and diesel are top-tier fuel products. This is the only tier that Costco will sell. This is also the type of fuel that is recommended by car dealerships and manufacturers.
We have not heard that much bad about their gasoline quality. Some people have complained about it being cheap gas. But the reason Costco’s gas prices are lower than anyone else’s is because of the deals they make with the different refineries.
It is not because Costco is selling bad gas. It is possible to get bad gas at a Costco gas station, and that includes diesel, but it is possible to receive the same quality of fuel at other brands’ gas stations as well
How Good is Costco Desel?
Their reputation is that the gas and diesel this company sells are on par with Shell, Chevron, or ExxonMobil. One reason for that equality is that Costco may buy directly from those refineries that make the fuel for those brands.

We checked around and no one is giving any specifics on the additives that were able to find. What Costco says on its web page is this:
“Tested in the lab to ensure quality and guaranteed to perform, our diesel fuel is formulated with powerful deposit control additives that deep clean your engine and protect critical fuel system components to prevent harmful wear, and keep your engine running like new.”

Why is Costco Fuel Cheap?
One of the reasons that have been mentioned for their cheaper gas prices is the fact that Costco charges a membership fee. This membership fee is the reason why all of Costco’s prices are lower than other department stores and gas stations.
Another reason is that Costco knows that those customers who use their fueling stations, will generally stop and go inside to do more shopping. Whether it is to buy groceries or department store items or just to grab a bite to eat, Costco relies on its loyal customers to do more than gas shopping.

It is great that Costco is selling diesel at some of its gas stations now. If you are on the road and it is not out of your way, you can save some money and fill up for less. Then grab a hot dog and drink and save on your lunch or supper.
