Not everything is reliable. You can equate RV salesmen and dealers with used and new car salesmen and dealers. They are only interested in making a sale. They do not care about problems with the vehicle or if you get honest insurance coverage. They are all about the bottom line.
It sounds like a good idea but there seems to be a catch. If you make one little mistake in the paperwork or miss an annual inspection, then your policy may be canceled. The coverage is supposed to be for unlimited miles, 100% labor & parts as well as at no cost to you.
To learn more about this coverage, just continue to read our review. If this review sounds negative, it is because we are focusing more on complaints, than on positive notices this insurance option receives. Take a few minutes to learn more about this insurance coverage that sounds too good to be true.
The insurance company states right on its landing page that it will pay for all the components listed in the insurance agreement. All you have to do is meet the annual maintenance schedule and you have coverage.
This coverage is supposed to be for as long as you own the RV and if you follow their annual maintenance schedule, which is as follows:
- Inspect roof and seal where necessary
- Inspect axles and hub, lube where necessary.
- Inspect furnace – clean blower and combustion chamber, control compartment, (remove any dust, lint, and obstructions) as necessary, and test for gas line leaks.
- Inspect hot water heater – flush holding tank, manually operate pressure temperature relief valve, and clean burner tube (as outlined by the manufacturer), as necessary.
You may also have to file some paperwork each year. But be careful, one complaint was that during the first year of inspection, the people in charge did not give the paperwork to the owners to send in.
At the second year inspection, they got the paperwork and had to send it in themselves and when they did that, they were told their insurance coverage was canceled. The reason-- they did not file the paperwork the first year.
Also, to get this coverage, your RV has to be new and registered to you. If you have repairs that are covered by the insurance, you pay for them first and submit a request for reimbursement.
But before you do that, you must get authorization from the company or they won’t reimburse you.
The company’s website home page has a long list of parts that are covered by their insurance plan. Some of those covered parts include brake and suspension components, appliances, water systems, kitchen components, manual leveling jacks, LP issues, and on it goes.
Each part listed on that landing page has an > button which provides more detailed information in a drop-down box. Those drop-down boxes list all the specific parts that are covered by this insurance warranty.
The company puts you on this annual maintenance schedule not only to protect your motorhome but also to cut down on any future costs the company has to pay for repairs.
They are helping you prolong the life of your RV with this schedule. All repairs and maintenance must be done at an approved repair facility. This is to ensure that the proper documentation is generated as well as the level of workmanship is recorded.
If you are out of town, the company is supposed to have a special number for you to call to get approval. That number is 1-800-810-8458. It is listed in their FAQ section, lower down on the landing page.
We will link to their website shortly. Most of the information so far has been taken from their website.
As of July 2021, the company states that they have paid over 23,000 claims to a tune of over $11,500,000. This is an attempt to show you that the money you are paying is not being wasted but actually going for repairs.
Here is the most attractive part and that comes in the answer to the FAQ titled ‘what’s the catch?’ & we will quote it word for word:
“There is no catch; this program is provided to you at no charge. The only requirement is that you follow the customary maintenance outlined in your Warranty Forever® agreement.”
To back this statement up, we found no link to any web page that discusses the cost of this coverage. The company also has an app you can use to contact them and get more details. Again we will quote the website:
“The NAE/NWAN Connect app is available for download on compatible iOS and Android devices. To download the app, visit the Apple App Store or GooglePlay store.”
To contact the company, you need to use their contact page which is found at this link. or you can use the 1-800 number we documented earlier. Does it sound too good to be true, yet?
To us it does and there is a reason the company does not charge a coverage premium but we will get to that in the is it worth it section of this review.
No. The coverage stops when you sell or trade your RV in for another option. The requirement is that your RV and this coverage includes travel trailers, is covered for as long as you own it. After that, the company may not protect or issue a new policy to the new owners.
You have to give proof of ownership before you get any help from the company. Also, you have to sign a few papers so the company knows who owns the vehicle and you get covered.
This is all free of charge so it is an attractive policy to consider. Once the papers are signed, the company will have your RV or trailer inspected thoroughly. This is a mandatory inspection.
The company needs to know what is wrong at the beginning of the policy. After the inspection is over, you will be told what parts require repair and then discuss the repairs with you.
Keep in mind that you pay out of pocket first for any repairs done and then you file a claim with the company to get your money back. If their website is honest, that should not be a problem as they have paid out over $11 million worth of repair costs.
If it sounds like we are holding information back, it is because we are. That extra information will come in the is it worth it section.
The complaints do not specifically mention the Forever Warranty coverage sold by this company. They do say that they bought an extended warranty package which may be this one.
That is a minor point as the customer service conducted by the company was atrocious. In all the complaints that we were able to find, the owners were treated terribly.
At one point one complainant found that an elderly couple was being charged for repairs that were not broken. We have yet to find anyone speaking positively about this company and its Forever Warranty.
It may be that Dixie is just a dealer for the NAE/NWAN RV warranty company. They do have a dealer login on their website and they do offer visitors a chance to be their dealer.
We did not investigate that aspect as that has little to do with their coverage and how the company reps behave. The company also does not put any information on its website about who is or isn’t qualified to be a dealer.
You have to call the company to get the details on this aspect of their business. Their website is troubling as well as it is short on details and long on hype. That is always a red flag.
The reviews that we were able to find were not that positive and contained some negative information about the company. Those negative comments focused on the mandatory maintenance inspection and what is done during that time frame.
On a different website that talks about scams in the business world, one owner had his warranty voided because he was late for an oil change. In talking to his dealer, the latter said that they stopped working with the company because they were scamming owners and made their company look bad.
Another owner was told to have his vehicle in the shop every 6 weeks to keep it on the maintenance schedule or the warranty would be voided. Then if you change your own oil and cabin filters, the warranty is voided as well.
But that is not all. There are more issues coming up. The reviews for this company that we have seen are all bad. The slightest excuse the company can use to void your warranty will be used.
We have given you a few of those complaints in the last section but there are still more. We have not found anyone saying anything good about this warranty coverage. This section will provide a few more of those negative reviews or complaints.
The first one is an owner who kept all of his maintenance records up-to-date but used a different dealer with permission. Now he needed a new transmission but the company denied the claim because he used the other dealer.
Another owner had also kept their maintenance schedule but when their vehicle had a seized engine, the company denied the claim because some or all of the work that was previously done was not pre-authorized.
A third complaint dealt with the warning that the owner was told. It was related to him that if the wipers or the tires have too many miles on them, then the warranty would be voided.
The company will find the slightest reason to void the warranty and avoid its responsibilities towards its customers.
However, to be fair, we did come across one owner who did praise the company and said they covered all of his repairs. That was only one. You have to be careful as when you miss 1 annual inspection, your coverage becomes null and void.
In some cases, yes it is. Some owners seem to get great service from this company while others do not. While the service is free, the maintenance inspection is not.
This is the information we have been holding back. From what we have read, the company tells owners that unbroken parts are broken and they will charge them a fee for repairing those ‘ broken’ parts.
Plus, they will charge you for any maintenance they do at these annual inspections even though you could have done it cheaper and quicker yourself. But when the warranty is free and there are no traditional premium payments to worry about, it is hard to say it is not worth it.
Unless you have been ripped off by the company at these annual inspections. That is where we think the money to cover claims comes from. The only income stream this company has is those fraudulent charges at the annual maintenance inspections.
More than one reviewer has mentioned this practice.
Having free protection is always a good thing. Unless the insurance company providing that free coverage participates in underhanded methods to make money.
Some people will be scammed by this company and others will not. It seems to be the luck of the draw which type of service you will get once you sign up. Read all the reviews to make up your mind but do not be disappointed when you are treated badly by this company.
You have had ample warning in those reviews.
